Hi, I’m Laura.
I design things and experiences that solve problems and make life a little bit better.
I get excited by the unseen intersection between human behavior and great design.

As a Senior Industrial Designer at InVue, I’m designing new products and overseeing all things user experience related (across physical and digital products). We create devices that promote sales and prevent theft within retail, hospitality and healthcare environments. I enjoy being heavily involved with our key customers including Walmart, Target, Apple, Google, Lowe’s and others - as I research to uncover the hidden needs, brainstorm and visualize creative solutions, then develop these solutions and usher them through mass production.

Going way back, I spent all of college and high school interning at at architectural firm where I absorbed tons of knowledge about space and structure as I developed my passion for design. Then, after completing my Bachelor of Industrial Design degree at The Pratt Institute (including one semester studying glass design in Scandinavia) I began my professional career in the New York metro area working as an in-house industrial designer for large corporations including Conair and Cuisinart. I next moved on to work with smaller companies through my own design consultancy, Laura Abbott Design, LLC. During that time I designed everything from childrens’ toys to retail displays to mobile tutoring labs! I spent many years as the go-to Design Consultant for several “As Seen on TV” product companies, and had a blast designing patterns and prints for the Snuggie (which brought in over $500 million in gross revenue) amongst other wacky products backed by major TV campaigns. Whew!!
I’m great at…
3D modeling and rendering utilizing Solidworks, Creo, Keyshot, and the full Adobe Creative Suite. I'm skilled at quick and imaginative brainstorming, sketching, comprehensive design research and solid implementation of ideas via detailed specifications, mock-ups and prototypes. I enjoy getting my hands dirty in the shop, I can do one heck of a paint job, and have ample experience running 3D printers including SLA and FDM machines.
When I’m not working…
I’m a mother of two tiny humans who keep me on my toes! Their little imaginations never stop and they inspire me every day. I love to sketch, paint, explore and do yoga in my free time. I’m the go-to unofficial interior designer for many friends and family and I believe curating one’s space at home can bring so much joy to one’s day to day life.
